On February 5th, 5-9pm Ingrid Restemayer Studio will be open for First Thursdays in the Arts District.

On February 6th, 6-10pm during First Friday in Phoenix, the closing reception for Delicate Beasts at Modified Arts will be held. We had a fantastic opening in January. (Thanks, Modified!!) The closing promises to be just as much fun.

“Delicate Beasts” Goes South for the Winter

The latest collaboration between Ingrid Restemayer and Christy Puetz, "Delicate Beasts" opens in Phoenix, AZ on Friday, January 16, 2015.
Christy Puetz and Ingrid Restemayer studied Fiberarts together at the University of North Dakota in the 1990’s. They have a history of over 20 years collaborating & exhibiting together. Dedicated to the use of methods and materials traditionally associated with craft, they explore the boundaries and reconceive how craft materials are seen in the fine art world.
The last time these two exhibited together at Modified Art was in 2011 with “Shapeshifters.” The Phoenix New Times’ Kathleen Vanesian had this to say about that coupling of the works of Puetz and Restemayer: “Modified's exhibition, well balanced and thematically seductive, is a great example of how artists can work collaboratively, while maintaining their distinct aesthetic identities, to produce a cohesive result.” (full article here: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2011-01-27/culture/modified-arts-alters-perceptions-with-shapeshifters-by-ingrid-restemaryer-and-christy-puetz/ )

First Thursday Open Studio Crawl is a free monthly exploration of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, centralized in the Northrup King Building. During the long history of the building and its hundreds of studios it has served as a haven of creativity and the place to find many famous artists at work. The Art Crawl is an event to help local artists offer their wares and interact directly with the public.

And oh yeah, we have free parking.

The 17th annual Art Attack at the Northrup King Building offers up the widest array of art to date. More than 250 artists join forces for a weekend of engaging art experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to gain access to private studios and to buy original art direct from local, nationally and internationally known artists. Once again my studio (4th floor, #401-b) will be open with a heap of new work on display.

Perpetual Detail at Hennepin Gallery

September 11 – November 21, 2014

This exquisite exhibition curated by The Textile Center features the work of fiber artists, Ann Hall Richards and Ingrid Restemayer. Hall Richards’ handmade paper panels and sewn silk and thread, combined with collected organic plant materials, challenge the viewer to consider the value of such materials as artistic expression. Restemayer’s work conveys a reflective calmness through repetition. There is storytelling in her use of intaglio images, creating a narrative when paired with Morse code-like shapes formed through her hand-embroidery. Both artists’ creative processes are meditative and labor intensive, and the resulting works reveal dedication and mindfulness. They share a recurring theme of simplicity, ritual, tradition, and the environment.
Hennepin Gallery is located in the Hennepin County Government Center, A-level, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis. Adjacent to the Government Center Station on the Blue and Green LRT lines. Underground garage parking: $5.50 for 2 hours; enter on 3rd Ave South.
Perpetual Detail is on display through November 21. Hennepin Gallery is open Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 6 pm, and is free and open to the public. Hennepin Gallery is a project of Hennepin County Public Affairs.
